A fun activity around our house is being creative and making our own decorations, instead of purchasing the store bought ones.
One of the essential holiday decorations to have is a sock snowman to place in your home.
This tutorial video will show you how to make an easy sock snowman at home. Do this craft activity with your family, and use such snowman to add to your collection of DIY Christmas decorations.
Supplies Needed
Mini Hot Temperature Melting Glue Gun KitRed Sock
White Sock
Rice
Rubberbands
String
Black Push Pins
Small Googly Eyes
Orange Card Stock
Small Twigs
Step by Step Instructions
1) Cut 1 white sock in half (using the bottom, toe half of the sock).2) Take this toe half and fill with rice.
3) Seal the top of the sock with a rubberband.
4) Use another rubberband a little above the halfway point of the sock to separate the head and body.
5) For the hat, take 1 red sock and cut about a 1/4 piece off the top.
6) Take a small piece of string (about 3 - 4 inches) and tie off one of the end tips, then cut off any excess string.
7) Place the red hat on top of the snowman's head.
8) With the same red sock, cut a strip long ways to make the scarf, and wrap around the snowman between the head and body.
9) Take 3 black push pins, and place them along the center line of the body.
10) Take 2 small Googly Eyes, put a dab of hot glue on the back of each, and apply to the face.
11) Take a very small piece of orange card stock, and roll into a cone shape for the carrot nose. Place a dab of hot glue on the back of the cone, and apply to the face.
12) Take 2 small twigs for the arms, put a dab of hot glue on one of the ends of each, and apply to the sides of the body.
By following the easy steps in this tutorial, your homemade sock snowman will be ready to show off. I have a few of these placed around my house, and have already received plenty of compliments on them. Start making these cute sock snowmen for the holiday season, and give a unique look to your home!
